InterHealth's Green Tea Extract is rich in biologically active polyphenols known as catechins. These polyphenols are powerful antioxidants (more powerful than vitamins C, E and beta-carotene) that help protect cells from the ravages of free radicals, highly reactive molecules that can damage cell membranes and destroy DNA. Free radicals are produced by smoking, environmental toxins, exercising and even the body's normal process of metabolizing the air we breathe and the food we eat. Free radicals are a root cause of many chronic and degenerative diseases such as cancer, heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis and the aging process. The polyphenols in Green Tea Extract work by neutralizing free radicals to help prevent the damage they cause.
Research shows that InterHealth's Green Tea Extract contains unique antioxidants that help maintain oral and intestinal health. Its high levels of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) have been shown to prevent dental cavities, plaque formation and periodontal disease. In addition, research shows that Green Tea Extract improves intestinal function by increasing the ratio of normal to abnormal bacteria in the colon, thus reducing the incidence of diarrhea and constipation. Recently, new studies have shown that Green Tea Extract is a promising aid to weight control.
InterHealth's Green Tea Extracts are manufactured under strict quality-controlled procedures to ensure optimum potency, purity and efficacy. Importantly, InterHealth's Green Tea Extracts are standardized to contain high levels of the most potent green tea antioxidant, epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), and are available in both caffeinated and de-caffeinated forms.
