CHROMEMATE® PRESENTATION TAKES FIRST PRIZE AT AMERICAN COLLEGE OF NUTRITION MEETING

BENICIA , Calif. , November 12, 2004 – A poster presentation on the safety of ChromeMate®, a patented, biologically active, niacin-bound chromium complex from InterHealth Nutraceuticals, received first prize at the 45th annual meeting of the American College of Nutrition (ACN) in Long Beach, California, September 30 – October 3, 2004.
The prize was awarded to Taharat Yasmin, M.S., research associate with the Department of Pharmacy Sciences, Creighton University Medical Center (Omaha, NE), who presented the poster. She will receive a plaque and $300 from the ACN. The poster was titled “Toxicological Assessment of a Novel, Niacin-Bound Chromium Known to Ameliorate the Symptoms of Metabolic Syndromes.” The award was determined by a jury of six ACN members.

Principal investigator on the project was Mike Shara, Pharm.D., Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy Sciences at Creighton. Dr. Shara was supported by co-investigators A. Chatterjee, MD, Ph.D., Anthony E. Kincaid, PT, Ph.D., Aimee L. Limpach, Ph.D., Jason Bartz, Ph.D., and Ms Yasmin.
